Short Course Trucks @ Navan Nitro Nuts

23 Dec 2009

Short Course Trucks @ Navan Nitro Nuts (as per new topic in the Forum - please visit the forum and leave your questions or comments).

Well it's decided then - we are going to introduce a new class of trucks at Navan in 2010 - anyone who watches CORR (Championship Off Road Racing) on Sky or the newer series WSORR (World Series Off Road Racing) will know that these Short Course Trucks are fantastic to watch and now the RC versions are catching on and spreading like wildfire!.

So we are going to get in ahead of the game and introduce a new range of these trucks here in Ireland. I've had a look around at all the brands on offer and there are loads with the TRAXXAS Slash being the first to market and a very nice truck to drive it was my inspiration to try these out. Anyone who is racing in the Winter Series will know Eoin's TRAXXAS Slash and considering it's still "stock" he's had loads a fun and few technical problems.

2009 Summer Championship Results To Date

20 Sep 2009

Our Summer Championship kicked off on June 7th this year and finished up on Oct 11th with the 6th and Final Round. All drivers needed to take part in 4 rounds to have their points count and must be paid up members of Navan Nitro Nuts before the final round of the Championship.

Final results below reflect the lads who put in the most effort during the summer and well done to all - you can check out the award ceremony on YouTube if you click on the following link - (enjoy) - http://www.youtube.com/user/Ramas4#p/a (thanks to Ramunas for a fantastic piece of video work).

It's been a quiet Championship this year but racing and atmosphere were fantastic and it gave a number of our new members a chance to get settle in and improve their driving skills.  We also awarded 4 special prizes yesterday.  The trophies were donated by the RCCAOI (National RC Assocation) to be awarded as thought fitting by the respective clubs -

1st Award to young Shane O'Connell as the most improved Young Driver - Shane has shown continued improvement since he joined the club earlier this year and actually came 4th overall in the Summer Championship.  Well done Shane and keep up the good work.

2nd Award was given for best attendance at the Summer Championship and was awarded to Vytautas Seirys who was the only buggy driver who attended all 6 rounds.  Vytautas also took the first place Buggy Prize as he battled it out with Derek Stewart and Adrian O'Connell over the last few rounds.  Well done and keep up the good work.

3rd Award was given to Carel Mienie who attended all rounds since joining the club and making that huge leap from a HPI Savage basher to a Racing Truggy driver.  Carel also mananged to claim 2nd place overall in Truggy thanks to his good attendance record.  Welcome to the club and keep that engine tuned!.

4th Award went to a duo of Jack and Ger Lawe who didn't manage to attend the final round but were none the less very much remembered and thanked for all the hard work during the Final Round of the National Championships in Navan.  In particular Ger's offer to man the BBQ and feed the hungry drivers and pit persons on the day with seriously good burgers.  Well done lads - get that new engine broken in and get Jack Back on the Track!.

Nites Under Lites @ NNN

20 Aug 2009

The First Nite Under Lites took place on Wednesday 19th August 2009.

(Track as darkness starts to fall)

On a very wet nite when most people sat in front of their TV's looking out at the rain a few Nuts decided to brave the elements and kick off mid-week racing at Navan Nitro Nuts Off-Road RC Track.

(Lights On for the first official nites racing - looking good)

The idea has been knocking around for some time and especially since we installed our floodlights but it took Darren Jackson to get the show on the road when he raised it on the Forum as a new suggestion and Adrian O'Connell to offer his support to run the event (check out topic on the NNN Forum - http://murray135.com/nnn/nnnforum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=234).

The Forum is managed by Cian Murray and he has also just opened a new gallery on-line (http://murray135.com/nnngallery/) displaying all the photo’s and videos that get submitted to him related to the club. A few photo’s were taken and Jack managed to post them up on his Bebo page - http://www.bebo.com/PhotoAlbumBig.jsp?PhotoNbr=1&MemberId=3987872130&PhotoAlbumId=11459025169 – it gives some idea of the weather and lighting conditions as the night progressed – I’ve copied a few of the photo’s into this article to give you an idea how the track looks under lights.

A great first nite considering it was only meant to be a trial as all the votes are not in from the Polls but Wednesday 7pm kickoff seems to be leading as the most selected option at the moment. The mid-week racing will be a much more relaxed event giving new drivers and members a chance to get together for a few hours of fun and timed racing allowing everyone to practice, learn and improve their times without having the pressure of a formal championship to worry about.

Best of luck to Darren, Adrian and Vytautas as they move forward with this new venture.

Cheers, TheBoss….

2009 1:8 Scale Off-Road Irish National Championship Round 1 Results

25 May 2009

Thanks for a fantastic days racing in Navan yesterday (Sunday May 24th 2009).

We hosted 41 drivers from all over Ireland and the drivers skill coupled with one of the dryest days on the astro in almost a year resulted in some serious competition between the top 10 buggy drivers and truggy drivers. Find a link to final results here -  (http://www.rccaoi.com/downloads/Results/2009%20IRISH%20NATIONAL%208TH%20OFF%20RD%20RESULTS1/) - well done to everyone and see you all in BADMCC (http://www.badmcc.com) next month.

Picture History Off-Road to Date

06 Apr 2007

It has been our plan and maybe even our dream to build the best off-road track in the country. It hasn't been easy and as we are almost totally self funded progress is closely related to money (if any) in the bank!. With the wet winter we were limited in what grounds work we could do.

From a Green Field Site!

However we have worked hard and I just want to say a huge thanks to all involved in getting us this far - it's a good team effort that will get the job done and that's what we have.

Here is a quick Pictorial History of how far we have come - keep coming back and I"ll keep you updated.

We Brought in The Big Guns - Michael Rock was the man

We got it cleared but the soil was seriously wet so had to sit...

We got a club house organised and put it close to the track.

Then we moved the club house track side - fitted a new strengthened roof to act as a rostrum and sealed the roof.  We started loading in stone to help with sub-surface preparation.

Then we brought in the Big Guns again - Paddy Reilly & Son's did the job this time.

So Here We Are April 6th 8.30pm - looking ready to roll (literally)!

The 2nd Round of the 1:8 scale Irish Off-Road National Championships took place in Galway at the GMCC track next to Mother Hubbards. A great days racing with Alan Bickerstaff taking a second 1st place podium finish in two days having win the ITC On-Road in Belfast on Saturday.
