We had a great opening night for our three One-Act plays. Well done to the three directors, casts and crew. The feedback is very positive. |

It's showtime! Our three One-Act plays will be staged this weekend, Friday 20th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November 2009.
First up is Semper Fidelis, by Henry Hudson, directed by Kevin Martin. This is the harrowing tale of Barney Colgan’s turmoil whilst he confronts his past, leading him to question his loyalty to his faith, his church and his community. You, the audience, will join Barney on an emotional, evocative and poignant journey in this controversial and topical play.
Second on the night is A Galway Girl by Geraldine Aron, directed by Barbera Mellerick.
This story covers the thirty year span of Maisie and Dermot’s marriage. Each realizing that they made a mistake and that their married life is not what either of them imagined it would be. Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, always captivating, ‘A Galway Girl’ while entertaining, will strike more than a few chords with the audience.
Third and final play of the night is Ruby of Elsinore by Bruce Kane, directed by Delphine Coudray.
This tale is set in Ruby’s Hair Salon. Ruby is part psychologist/part confidant, serving the hairdressing needs of the Royal Hamlet family and friends. Prince Hamlet has been urged by his dead father, King Hamlet, to avenge his murder. The murderer is the dead king’s brother, Claudius, who has now married the widow, Queen Gertrude (Hamlet’s mother). Meanwhile, Prince Hamlet’s would-be girlfriend, Ophelia, is bewildered and heartbroken. This story delivers hairdressing tips, Shakespearian style, and guaranteed laughs.

Due to the unavailability of the rights to Twelve Angry Men this autumn, TDG has decided to produce three 1-Act plays. These will be staged at our usual time slot of late November. We have a number of scripts available, and know that members may have plays themselves. With this in mind, we are inviting interested would-be directors and those who might like to assist a director, to attend a meeting on Monday 31st August, venue to be confirmed, to discuss this further. Please contact Willie on 087 2326259 to express an interest. Please bring along any 1-Act plays you may have to hand. Even if you are not interested in directing that particular one, somebody else may like it. |

After a very enjoyable and successful season, with The Man From Clare and The Plough & The Stars, we ended with a most enjoyable party in Trim Castle Hotel on Saturday 20th June. There was a slight air of sadness on this occasion, as we bid farewell to Sheila O'Keeffe, who is returning to her native Leitrim after a long stint with Trim Drama Group. We wish her all the best, and she has promised to return to see our next production, Twelve Angry Men, in November. We then had a final hurrah with our Ploughing in The Field on Sunday 21st June at the Scurlogstown Haymaking Festival. Enjoy the break, everybody, and see you at auditions on 2nd September.
